Following the accession of Cyprus to the European Union on 1st May 2004, it became a member of the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM), renamed the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), for the registration and protection of trademarks and industrial designs within the European Community.
Cyprus is also a member of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and of numerous other International Conventions and Treaties with regards to IP Rights.
